Spent the day still trekking east on I-90. Think this was the last day for the interstate for a while. Should be in Iowa tomorrow. Hope to find some fresh corn in Iowa straight from the farmer.
Tonight we are in the town of Mitchell, SD which is known for their Corn Palace which they have decorated for over 100 years with murals on the inside and outside of the building. These murals are made of corn cobs and grasses. The theme of the murals for the last two years has been a "Salute to Rodeo". Normally, the murals are replaced each year but in the case of a drought (like last year) the cobs are too brittle to use and the murals aren't replaced. They have 12 different colors of corn to add definition.
