Pickering Passage Leaves

 

One of our memories about the fall cruises we used to take is the proliferation of leaves floating on the water in Pickering Passage. 

 

There's a large number of deciduous trees hanging over the shorelines, and in the fall, a whole bunch of pretty yellow leaves end up in the water.  

 

Pickering Passage is apparently narrow enough to corral them and send squadrons of them sailing down the waterway.   

 

We've missed seeing these guys for several years, so were charmed to once again see them floating by as we chugged along. 

 

And if you do it just right, you can catch one just exactly dead center and carry it along with you. 

 

Not sure if we've ever done that before, and probably will never do it again, but the camera does not lie – we did it this time!

 

Fall boating in South Sound

Not many boaters out enjoying the change of leaf colors. 

 

Of course, they are missing the rainbows too!

Spent a few nights in cozy Jarrell Cove Marine Park. Made a few trips up to watch the deer. 

 

 

5 of them followed us around hoping we were the "apple fairies".  And, yup, Dean was.  He jumped up to knock some apples off the trees and the deer were happy.

 

The grounds of the park were very soggy from the rains we've been having.  Could hear water running into the cove from various spots including this wonderful waterfall that we found on one trail.
