Snowin' Chocolate

Now do we ever need an excuse to hang around where they are handing out chocolate samples?  No way!

The Pacific Beach Chocolate Festival with a motto of "It's Raining Chocolate" had to modify this a bit and assure everybody that "Despite the Snow We are a Go".  They were selling T's that said "We survived the 2011 Pacific City Blizzard".

Lucky us!  Most of the 50 vendors were handing out samples.  Smack my lips!  Vendors came from all over western Washington with 7 more from Oregon.

Lucky us again:  We won a $10 gift certificate for more chocolates from IC Confections of Hillsboro, Oregon.  Now if we win the raffle of A Year of Chocolate....  Mmm mmm good!

Now even better than chocolate....REALLY!  Is that this festival is a fundraiser for rebuilding the Northern Pacific Railway Depot in Moclips.  When the depot was built in 1905 that was the farthest west terminus of any railroad in the US.  Moclips became the mecca for vacationers who came to the beach by the thousands from as far away as Seattle on the railroad before there were roads. 

Good for the Museum of North Beach to take this project on.  This will be their new home and community center.  From what we had remembered of Moclips we would have thought that this would hardly be necessary. But, as we saw today, there has been a number of new upscale housing developments built in this little corner of Washington.  Stay tuned.
