Black Hills and Green Prairies

Well, the Black Hills aren't.  There is nothing black.  The native indians thought that the trees were black.  There is nice granite to carve Rushmore & Crazy Horse.  Lots of pine trees that they call a weed that grows just about everywhere.  Like much of the mid-west, the pine beetle has caused many pines to die.  Leaving red trees that topple frequently.  Not black trees.

We were amazed at how green everything is now in the hills and the prairies.  What drought, we wonder.

The prairie was alive with wildflowers.  Look closely.
