We've never stopped to see the THING but they sure do advertise along I-10 to intice us to stop by and spend!
Our third choice for Christmas was Las Cruces, New Mexico (#1 was Everglades, #2 was Brazos Bend) and we made it!
Stayed at a nice commercial park which had a margarita social hour and extensive breakfast for us in the morning.
We got here to partake in the Christmas eve festivities at Old Mesilla - a mile down the road.
Luminaries lined the road and the town square and the roof tops. We got to help set up and light about 100 of them. Down at the town square we sang carols.
Since the temperature was 22 we headed in for warmth at a Mexican restaurant there. Ah yes, warmth. New Mexico Mexican food is a "tetch" warmer than anywhere else. We were fanning our mouths and gulping water to alleviate "some" of the heat. Good stuff.
Christmas day was beautiful and sunny.
Dean got involved with helping the park identify all the pipes that had frozen and broke last night.
Yummy prime rib dinner and all the fixings.
Great day.
