Started great with a breakfast at the Indio Elks. Yummy. An hour later Dean was talking with a fellow who said he was talking like he was drunk. Oh. He came into the RV and tried to share this me. I shoved 2 aspirin at him with a glass of water. He drooled it all.

For sure 911. Fire folks here in 5 minutes – in 40 minutes they were at the Eisenhower Medical Center Emergency. From then on he was subjected to (last count) 28 different tests including UltraSounds, CatScans, an MRI, and Electrocardiograms, and double that in blood tests. The MRI showed white spots – aha! – those are created by strokes. Not only did he just have a stroke but he'd had others AND each one will get worse. Lucky us that the we were near Eisenhower Hospital that is a Certified Advanced Primary Stroke Center. Boy, did they know just what to do and did it quickly.

With a cardiologist, neurologist, and a resident who got Dean's records from Seattle, these fellows came up with an answer. Blood thinner, clot busting, of course. Carotid artery >90% blocked and needed to be fixed ASAP. So carotid angioplasty and stenting. Gunk filter, balloon, and stent. Patient stays awake for the whole process as all the items get fed up the femoral artery. One more night in the hospital and he got to go back to the relax and recover at the RV.

Well, not quite. While he was relaxing in the hospital, the RV refrigerator committed hari kari and will have to be replaced. Of course, this is on Thanksgiving weekend and all help and parts we found would be available in DECEMBER not this weekend.

Now what?
.
Best we found was to replace the refrigerator with a residential fridge after uninstalling the battery, 110v, and the LP gas and dragging the 20 year-old fridge out of it's cabinet. We are partway there....the old refrig is sitting in our living area and tomorrow we pick up a residential fridge which (fingers crossed) will fit in the same cabinet. We'll see.
