The town of Lancaster has a Civic Musical Road. Sounded like a place to honor musicians that were raised in town. No way!
This musical road was actually named after a Honda Civic. The tune is the finale of the William Tell Overture and was created through adjusted width, depth, and spacing of rumble strips on the roadway.
Musical roads. There are only 6 worldwide. 2 are in the USA. There is a new one that plays America the Beautiful in New Mexico. We hope to pass by this sometime in the future.

A bit of history: In 2008, the Honda Corporation built the original Civic Musical Road for a commercial. But the noise over the rumble strips was annoying to the nearby neighborhood and it was paved over two weeks later.

Lancaster still liked the idea and chose a more remote location to recreate the new musical road.

This tune was a bit flat but we can see some uses in the future like playing a kid's song in school zones that play correctly at 20 miles per hour will entertain children and catch driver's attention.
