The Foundation!

Finally the rains stayed away .. at least long enough for the foundation wall forms to be removed.

We now have nice fresh concrete and with spring sprinkles back, the concrete is staying moist.  That is good for concrete curing. 

In between the spring sprinkles, we've had some sunny spells so that Dean can work on cleaning up the area inside of the walls.  It's just a thing he does. 

 . 

Now we can "see" the outline of the house.  We can see where the front door will be, the decks, the front room.  It seems so much bigger than the mobile it replaces.

Dean added a bridge to the inside which became an access for the trick dog and a great dog pen!  When it is sunny, Miss Lily lays in the dirt and watches Dean pick up the concrete chunks.

And this week we finally finalized the final plans.

Many of you might think we had already done that.  Ah, but then you must not know us well enough.  Given enough time, we can completely change everything. (Oops!)

We had to have a "final" final so walls could get ordered at the factory.  The windows have been ordered and the wall construction order was submitted on Wednesday.  No delivery schedule yet. 

. 

Next on the agenda is the wild tractor man comes back and lays drain pipes around the foundation walls (curtain drains).  Then he will shove all the piles of dirt back around the foundation.  We dread the havoc he may create – which pipes will he destroy, break, or dig up this time?  Is there a chance he will tip in and tip over the foundation wall?  We still have a power line laying on the ground that feeds the RV – we really do not want that cut.  How will we keep him from destroying that?  We'll probably fill that section by hand.   (We wondered this week how many tractor guys come with their own plumbing supply van - guess we should have thought of that before!  Ha ha!)

Behind wild tractor man and closer to wall install, the subfloor crew will come and we'll have a dance floor created.  Nobody wants the wood subfloor to spend much time in the weather (NW Washington: that means rain) so we expect a couple weeks before that happens.

Things look so much brighter with some sunshine and the foundation.  Progress is being made!
