It's so much more fun to go and explore when it is sunny. Today the temps got close to 70 and we went off to explore.
The town of Exeter has many wall murals and we had a nice walk finding them all and looking for the hidden figures in each. (Glad we got out of town when we did. See next blog entry!)
We followed the road toward Sequoia National Park until we reached a reservoir called Lake Kaweah. The lake level is way low and the boat ramp has at least 3 paved extensions so boaters can still launch. The campground on the lake looks like it had a destructive runoff from the hills above with mud and sand all over the roads and campsites.
We drove through many orange groves. Many are being picked this week. We hadn't known that citrus was grown in this area but it is Exeter's big business.
Learned of an area near here that is called Hogwallow Preserve. And also known as Mima Mounds! The area is described as hogwallows about 1.5 million years old and used to cover 1000's of acres. Now only 10 acres. Not sure if we'll be able to find it. Isn't that something?! We thought the Mima Mounds near Lacey Washington were unique.
